Hiroshima Day

Brief of Program:

Hiroshima Day, observed on August 6 each year coordinated by Dr Rishi A Thakar, commemorates the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan, during World War II. On August 6, 1945, during World War II, the United States dropped an atomic bomb, known as ‘Little Boy’, on the city of Hiroshima. The bombing marked the first time use of nuclear weapon in warfare. The day serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating impact of nuclear weapons. Hiroshima Day is a significant occasion that commemorates the tragic events of August 6, 1945, and highlights the ongoing need for global peace and nuclear disarmament. By remembering the past, the day aims to inspire a future where such devastation is never repeated.
